Epic Documentary Day: Better Living Through Circuitry

Extremely Epic documentary that hits the heart of the underground electronic dance scene. A Must Watch for anyone involved in; or curious about, the counter culture ...

It's a fun, comprehensive look at rave culture. The director completely gets the subject matter. Great interviews with everyone from the top DJ's in the scene, to the graphic designers who create the fliers, to the ravers themselves. If you rave or if you want to understand what it's all about, this is the movie to watch. (Imdb.com)

Online Gamer

A viral gem from a couple months back. Frighteningly accurate depiction of a COD fanatic and what it may be like if he attempted playing Monopoly.

MADVILLAIN ALL CAPS

I know this isn't a new tune, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. MF DOOM & MADLIB make MADVILLAIN in "All Caps". Awesome video too.

Christopher Nolan's new brain child

I'm not Leonardo Di Caprios biggest fan, but when Christopher Nolan's name is mentioned(the director of The Dark Knight) I try to keep an open mind. This is the same guy that also directed The Prestige, Momento & Insomnia, he likes his movies dark. Though this trailer doesn't show a whole lot, it definitely seems to follow his gritty and grey style of filmmaking. Halifax's own Ellen Page is also playing a major role, I'm curious now for sure.

Ants "farming"

An incredible article I stumbled across about ants and how they were recently documented herding aphids like cows. The team from Imperial College London, Royal Holloway University of London also found some other interesting facts. Here are some of the key points, looks like ants have a lot more smarts than we ever gave them credit.

"The ants have been known to bite the wings off the aphids in order to stop them from getting away and depriving the ants of one of their staple foods: the sugar-rich sticky honeydew which is excreted by aphids when they eat plants"

"Ants could use the tranquillizing chemicals in their footprints to maintain a populous 'farm' of aphids close their colony, to provide honeydew on tap. Ants have even been known to occasionally eat some of the aphids themselves, so subduing them in this way is obviously a great way to keep renewable honeydew and prey easily available."

"These farmers ants ensure that their food producing aphids are constantly supplied with fertile feeding grounds and migrate them to greener pastures when necessary."

"Worth noting is that these ants also guard their cows from predators and contain them in a small perimeter where they can easily be supervised."

This too shall pass

Even if you don't like the music, watch it for the video alone. Band "Ok Go" along side Syyn Labs have created something incredible here, I wonder how many run-throughs it took to get this version....

Directed by James Frost, OK Go and Syyn Labs. Produced by Shirley Moyers. The official video for the recorded version of "This Too Shall Pass" off of the album "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky". The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA.

One step closer to VR

Japanese scientists at the the University of Tokyo are creating ways that change how holographic images work. Instead of just seeing projections these scientists are playing with ways of implementing touch and feel, though basis right now this could lead into something much more exciting. Each year we get closer and closer to virtual reality, imagine going to a movie at the theatre and actually being one of the characters in it.

Gorillaz - Stylo (HD)

I can't stop listening to The Gorillaz new album, titled "Plastic Beach" it is full of cameos and surprises. If you liked any of the older Gorillaz stuff than you owe yourself a listen to the entire thing. Stylo is the first single from the album and has an amazing music, enjoy.

There is currently no way to embed the HD trailer so here is a link -

Genesis

Justice is one of the best emerging electronic bands, period. Their Cross album is one of those few albums that is actually worth listening to from beginning to end.

Wiki-

Justice is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé (born 21 May 1979 in Besançon) and Xavier de Rosnay (born 2 July 1982).[2] The duo is one of the most successful groups on Ed Banger Records[3] and is managed by the label's head, Pedro Winter. Justice is known for incorporating a strong rock and indie influence into their music and image.[3][4]
Their debut album  was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim.[5][6] The album was later nominated for a Grammy Award for "Best Electronic/Dance Album" and came in at number 15 on Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums of 2007[7] and number 18 on Blender's "25 Best Albums of 2007" list.[8] It was nominated for the 2007 Shortlist Prize, losing out to The Reminder by Feist. Their remix of the MGMT song "Electric Feel" won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2009.[9]
In June 2009, it was announced that Justice would be moving to WMG/Atlantic's newly relaunched Elektra Records label, and plans to release a new album in early 2010.

Best driving song ever....

Photoshop fuck ups

Photoshop is a great tool for fine-tuning a picture exactly that way you want it, doesn't mean you can't also butcher a picture in the process.

Loads of water

Nasa scientists have found millions of tons of water on one of Saturn's moons. This is big news as it changes our outlook on what parts of the universe water can exist, it also changes our outlook on where life can exist. That old theory that earth is in the "perfect" position and if it was further away or closer it would burn up or freeze is starting to look bogus. Theres a lot we seem to be wrong about with space.
