Watchmen was different.

I am gonna keep this short, because I honestly still don't know what to think of Watchmen. The movie is not what I expected at all, that's not a bad thing, but I will say that this is no typical Hero movie. I have not read the graphic novel so I went into the theatre with an open mind. I also went in with huge hopes because Zack Snyder is one of my favorite directors... I will start by saying that the movie has some really cool characters, each with their own back story and set of values. There is the typical bad-ass character, geeky character, mysterious female all the types you would expect to find in this movie are here. Though there may be some cliche characters I will admit they have never been done quite like they have in Watchmen. One thing that seemed really strange to me was the selection of music in the movie, not sure if it was intentionally strange or what. On the action side, there are some really intense fight scenes and typical explosions but the movie is more about the plot and characters. Oh yeah, lots of random gore and nudity too. The movie runs almost 3 hours in length, long but definitely eventful. The movie has a lot of ups and downs, starts off slow, picks up, slows down, picks up. Some amazing visuals are in there as well, one of the coolest I noticed is the mask worn by one of the hero's called Rorschach. Rorschach also happened to be my favorite character in the movie by far, some of the other hero's are very different than most people are gonna expect. I will end by saying that I did enjoy the movie, but it just didn't blow me away. It didn't have the same effect on me as 300 or Dark Knight for example, but I realize everyone is going to have a very different opinion on this movie...Either way I would tell someone to go see it, especially if you are a fan of Zack Snyder or the Hero genre...

On a scale of 1-10 I would give this movie an 8.5
