Caesar is reporting that Planet of the Apes is getting a sequel, actually it's more of a prequel because it takes place years before the other flicks. I remember watching the Planet of the Apes remake with Marky Mark when it first came to theatres, it wasn't quite like the originals but it did a great job of creating a new feel, at the same time rebooting an aging series. Also, lets all be honest, monkeys are just entertaining, plain and simple. Here's what IGN had to say -

"UK, March 12, 2010 - At the start of the year we heard that Twentieth Century Fox was prepping a Planet of the Apes prequel, tentatively titled Caeser.

The studio has now seemingly hired a director for the project, with
Deadline Hollywood reporting that Rupert Wyatt has the job. Rupert who? His last film was the brilliant-but-little-seen British prison thriller The Escapist (which starred Brian Cox).

The film will show how the apes became so smart, with human experiments on monkeys leading them to overtake humans on the evolutionary scale. The story will follow the eponymous Caeser -- the genetically altered leader of a simian rebellion who takes the apes into war with humanity.

The original script was by Scott Frank, but since he left the project, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have reworked the screenplay.

No word yet on when shooting will begin."
