Epic Documentary Day: Better Living Through Circuitry

Extremely Epic documentary that hits the heart of the underground electronic dance scene. A Must Watch for anyone involved in; or curious about, the counter culture ...

It's a fun, comprehensive look at rave culture. The director completely gets the subject matter. Great interviews with everyone from the top DJ's in the scene, to the graphic designers who create the fliers, to the ravers themselves. If you rave or if you want to understand what it's all about, this is the movie to watch. (Imdb.com)

Online Gamer

A viral gem from a couple months back. Frighteningly accurate depiction of a COD fanatic and what it may be like if he attempted playing Monopoly.

MADVILLAIN ALL CAPS

I know this isn't a new tune, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. MF DOOM & MADLIB make MADVILLAIN in "All Caps". Awesome video too.

Christopher Nolan's new brain child

I'm not Leonardo Di Caprios biggest fan, but when Christopher Nolan's name is mentioned(the director of The Dark Knight) I try to keep an open mind. This is the same guy that also directed The Prestige, Momento & Insomnia, he likes his movies dark. Though this trailer doesn't show a whole lot, it definitely seems to follow his gritty and grey style of filmmaking. Halifax's own Ellen Page is also playing a major role, I'm curious now for sure.

Ants "farming"

An incredible article I stumbled across about ants and how they were recently documented herding aphids like cows. The team from Imperial College London, Royal Holloway University of London also found some other interesting facts. Here are some of the key points, looks like ants have a lot more smarts than we ever gave them credit.

"The ants have been known to bite the wings off the aphids in order to stop them from getting away and depriving the ants of one of their staple foods: the sugar-rich sticky honeydew which is excreted by aphids when they eat plants"

"Ants could use the tranquillizing chemicals in their footprints to maintain a populous 'farm' of aphids close their colony, to provide honeydew on tap. Ants have even been known to occasionally eat some of the aphids themselves, so subduing them in this way is obviously a great way to keep renewable honeydew and prey easily available."

"These farmers ants ensure that their food producing aphids are constantly supplied with fertile feeding grounds and migrate them to greener pastures when necessary."

"Worth noting is that these ants also guard their cows from predators and contain them in a small perimeter where they can easily be supervised."

This too shall pass

Even if you don't like the music, watch it for the video alone. Band "Ok Go" along side Syyn Labs have created something incredible here, I wonder how many run-throughs it took to get this version....

Directed by James Frost, OK Go and Syyn Labs. Produced by Shirley Moyers. The official video for the recorded version of "This Too Shall Pass" off of the album "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky". The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA.
